IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Georgia Louise
Hickl
April 21, 1926 – November 30, 2024
Georgia Hickl died peacefully at home on November 30, 2024, at the age of 98. She was born on April 21, 1926, to Joseph and Louise Bilicek of Hungerford, Texas.
Georgia graduated from El Campo High School in 1944, and attended Southwest Texas Teacher's College in San Marcos. After receiving her teacher's degree, she made teaching a life-long career and passion. She started her teaching career at Jones Creek Elementary School in Taiton, Texas, and eventually taught at Holy Cross Elementary School in Bay City and Bay City Junior High.
Georgia was a devoted member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and was a life-long member of the KJZT Catholic Family Fraternal organization. As it became harder for her to attend mass, she enjoyed watching mass on EWTN which she supported through regular donations.
Georgia loved the sport of volleyball having played it at Southwest Texas Teacher's College. She also loved to go fishing and especially enjoyed working in her vegetable garden and tending to her plants. As she got older her favorite pastimes were working 'word search' puzzle books, reading, and watching the Astros play.
Georgia's most precious personal memories were of the times she spent with her husband, children and grandchildren at family gatherings; she especially enjoyed the Christmas Holiday and attending Midnight Mass. She always had time to chat by phone with her children no matter what time of the day and this continued even in her later years.
Georgia was preceded in death by her husband Jesse Sr., daughter in-law Sandra Hunt Hickl, and sisters Josephine Hlavinka, Mary Merta, Annie Fucik, Rosie Merta, Janie Leschper and brother Jerry Bilicek.
She is survived by her children Jerry Hickl and wife Sherrie, Gloria Korenek and husband Ron, Nancy Pierce and husband Kirby, Jesse Hickl Jr., and sister Louise Merta. Grandchildren are Ronald Korenek, Jr. and wife Christi, Kristina Korenek, Jerry Wayne Hickl, Jr. and Valerie Hickl.
Georgia's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Nicole Gonzales, her caregiver for the daily care and love she provided as well as Jessica with Angels Hospice of Bay City.
Georgia will be deeply missed by her family and friends but her legacy of sharing and kindness to others will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
