Genevia Lorene Hoffman, 76, of Bay City passed away May 30, 2010. She was born Oct. 10, 1933 in Markham, TX to the late Henry & Christine Wentercha Schimek. She married Albert G. Hoffman on Dec. 29, 1948 and they shared 60 years together before his death on Nov. 12, 2008. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter Dawn Hoffman. She was a Charter Member of St. Peter Lutheran Church; member of Ladies Auxiliary Philip H. Parker VFW Post 2438; member of the Altar Society and served as secretary for the local chapter of Thrivent Insurance. Genevia will be remembered for her love and dedication to St. Peter Lutheran Church and her love for her husband, children and grandchildren. She had a love for cooking and was know for her infamous Poppy Seed Cake. She will be greatly missed.
Survivors include sons and their wives Albert Hoffman, Jr. and Janet of Wharton and Randy Hoffman, Sr. and Kathy of Bay City; sisters Cecelia Harvey of Bay City & Irene Schlueter of Alexandria, LA; brother Ottmar Schimek, Sr. of Bay City and grandchildren Kristi, Trey, & John Hoffman, Susan Hoffman Evanick, & Randy Hoffman, Jr.
The family will receive friends and family from 6pm to 8pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at St. Peter Lutheran Church with Rev. Jared Stillions officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Hoffman, Trey Hoffman, Russell Corporan, Ottmar Shimek, Jr., Ryan Evanicky, and Robert Hoffman. Honorary pallbearers will be Kristi Hoffman, Susan Evanicky, Randy Hoffman, Jr. and Christine Ryan. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church; 3000 9th St.; Bay City, TX 77414.
