Gary Staton Hunter set out for home on April 14th, 2017 and now walks hand-in-hand with Jesus. He was born on April 25th, 1949 in Lampasas, Texas to Staton Edward and Sophia Lemons Hunter. A celebration of Gary's life for Christ

Gary was former owner of Hunter Welding, Inc., in Palacios, Texas, former Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force, Other past associations include: Deacon at First Baptist Church of Palacios, member of the board of directors at City State Bank of Palacios, Secretary - Treasurer of the Palacios Economic Development Corporation, Matagorda County Economic Development Corporation, member of the Air Force Association, bull rider with the Texas A&I Rodeo Club, and football player at Palacios High School, where he was frequently referred to as "Determination Plus."
He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 46 years, Mary Alice Hunter of Palacios, Texas; daughter Sandra Hunter Lesley and husband Jack of Richmond, Texas; daughter Garrie Hunter Aranda and husband Alfonso of Hutto, Texas; daughter Renee Rouviere Miller of Tucson, Arizona; grandchildren Madison Grace Aranda, Brint Michael Lesley, Shelby Miller Romero, Elizabeth Miller, and Cole Miller; and great grandson Hunter Panzica; one soon to arrive great granddaughter Elyana Romero; and his beloved dog, Milo.
Multitudes of other young people Gary encountered during his ministry for Jesus as well as the upbringing of his girls simply called him "dad."
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 3 pm at Live Oak Cemetery near Hamilton, Texas.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Palaicos, Texas.
