IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Garland Bruce
Richardson
March 21, 1928 – January 4, 2019
Garland Richardson, 90, passed away on January 4, 2019 in Bay City, Texas.
Garland was born near Hasema, Texas, on March 21, 1928 to Benjamin Roe Richardson and Bernice Sewell Richardson. He joined the Coast Guard and served our great country during World War II. He married Idalue Coston on July 20, 1947, and they were together 63 years before her death in 2010.
As a young man, he attended the little school in Hasema by the railroad tracks and later attended Van Vleck school. He was a proud member of the six man Leopard football team.
Later, he was proudly employed by Earl Dibbern building many beautiful homes in Bay City for about 22 years. He also worked for Hudson Cattle Company with their registered Brahman herds and could work cattle, ride horses, weld and repair machinery, bale hay, and just about anything else that needed to be done. After retiring, he enjoyed many days of building furniture, tending to his faithful horse "Big Un," and relaxing on his back porch watching the cows and deer in the pasture.
He was a loving grandpa to his grandchildren and a very special "Gamps" to his great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all of his family.
Garland was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Idalue; brothers, Marvin and Melvin Richardson; sister, Hazel Richardson Bickham; son, Gaylen Richardson; and grandson, Ryan Bruno.
