Gabriel J. Olivares, 71, of Palacios, Texas, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021. He was born April 8, 1950 in Mexico City, Mexico to the late Gabriel Olivares Guerrero and Maria de Jesus Martinez.

He has been a missionary for the last 30 years.  It was his passion to spread God's word throughout the US and Mexico.

Gabriel was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Esperanza Ortega Olivares; daughters Gabriela Tomes (James), Diana Ziegler (Dan) and Evelyn Sibley; son Tony Olivares (Kristen) and grandchildren Sebastian Sibley, Diego Sibley, Micah Wells, Mark Tomes, Jude Tomes and Nathan Tomes.

The family will receive friends and relatives for visitation at 11:00am Thursday June 10, 2021 at Living Word Church in Palacios, Texas. Funeral services will begin at 12:00pm with Tony Flores officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Palacios Cemetery. Pallbearers for Gabriel will be Tony Olivares, James Tomes, Dan Ziegler, Mark Tomes, Nathan Tomes, Jude Tomes and Diego Sibley.
