Freddie never met a stranger and was the definition of friend to anyone he met, always ready to crack a joke or pick on you in a way like no other could.
Freddie was a 1974 graduate of Van Vleck High School. He loved giving back throughout his life, helping with Van Vleck Little League for 20 years. He was a big part of helping build the Little League complex that is still operating in Van Vleck today. He coached hundreds of kids who he loved running into throughout life. Freddie also coached Pee Wee football in Van Vleck for several years and poured many tireless hours into his giving through Eagles Club F.O.E 3232 in Bay City. He enjoyed riding with his brother and sister in the Matagorda County Cavalry and the sense of help it provided for others.
He was a charter member of the Van Vleck Lions Club where he headed up the annual BBQ cook-off that became a huge success for the club. Freddie was Chief Bridge tender at the Sargent swing bridge and loved spending time with whoever stopped by to visit the control room. Most of all he enjoyed the company of his family from driving his loving wife of 41 years crazy with jokes, or talking the hopes of a BBQ business and life with his boys. He was all in on loving his family.
He also served 3 years in the United States Army and several years in the National Reserves. He was a proud veteran. Freddie was also on the Dean's list at Brazosport College.
He loved his wife's cooking and enjoyed doing cook-offs with her, family and friends. Attending the events of his grandkids really put a sparkle in his eye with pride. He loved watching the Houston Texans and picking on anyone that cheered for the Cowboys, even though he liked them too. The Astros were always on the TV when playing and he really enjoyed the 2017 World Series.
