Freda Louise Kilgo Bailey Daniel, age 93, passed away on January 7, 2026 in Bay City, Texas. She was born September 23, 1932 in Konawa, Oklahoma to Fred Kilgo and Margaret Elaine Touchton Kilgo Bailey and was later adopted by her stepfather, Elmo Willard Bailey.
She was a graduate of Angleton High School and Southern Methodist University in 1954 where she studied art and interior design. While at SMU, she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. In 1956, she married Tillman Moody Daniel, Jr. in Angleton, Texas, and then moved to Bay City for Tillman to start his medical practice.
Freda was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, her husband of 68 years, and two of her sons, Brett Christopher Daniel and Kirk Bailey Daniel. She is survived by her eldest son, Gregory Tillman Daniel, Sr. and his wife Nancy of Austin, Texas and her daughter, Lisa Daniel Frick and her husband Tod Emery Frick of Fairhope, Alabama. “Gran,” as she was affectionately called, is also survived by six grandchildren, Gregory Tillman Daniel, Jr. and his wife Erin, Leslie Daniel Marcum and her husband Robby, Jacob Christopher Daniel, Tod Mills Frick, Emery Frick Donnelly and her husband Tom, and Bailey Louise Daniel. In addition, she had five great grandchildren Grady Daniel, Mason Daniel, Ricki Daniel, RT Marcum, and Leighton Marcum.
God blessed her with many talents and interests such as painting, cooking, sewing, quilting, jewelry fabrication, and a love for genealogy. She successfully proved her memberships into many genealogical organizations, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the American Colonists, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Plantagenet Society, The National Society Magna Charta Dames, and The Colonial Order of the Crown.
Freda was a faithful and devoted member of the First Methodist Church of Bay City and taught Sunday school for many years. She also served civically in The Junior League of Bay City.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11am Monday, January 12, 2026 at the First Methodist Church in Bay City, Texas With Rev. Chris McNeill officiating. Pallbearers will be Greg Daniel, Gregory Daniel, Jacob Daniel, and Tod Frick.
