Obituary

Fred T. Harr of Palacios passed away from this earth on Monday, October 22, 2012, at his Tivoli, Texas home with loving family at his side. Fred was born on July 12, 1934 in Millet, Texas to Fred and Eva Mae Smith Harr (Muddie). He graduated from Cotulla High School and later attended college at San Marcos, Texas at such time he was drafted into military service. Fred served his country in the United States Army, stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia. It was in San Marcos where Fred met and married Fay Marie Pohl in 1956. After a variety of endeavors, raised as a boy in west Texas Cotulla, hundreds of miles from the coast, Fred found his calling in the seafood business. He bought a fish and bait shop in Port Isabel and continued on to become a commercial fisherman and a seafood processor in Matagorda, Texas. He eventually spread up and down the Gulf Coast. Later in life, Fred became involved in many other ventures; two of the most well known being Palacios Seafood and Harr's Bldg. and Marine. He also had business interests in aquaculture, ranching and entertainment related businesses. He was a man of enormous energy and drive, always moving, planning and looking ahead, undaunted by failure and adversity. He will surely be missed by the many, many friends he had the good fortune to know along the way.

Fred is survived by seven children and their spouses, Debbie Moore; Thomas Harr and Barb; Terri Lynn Harr; Charles Harr and Tonia; Cindy Krause and Mark; Sherri Seaman and Greg; Fred T. Harr.
