Franklin Leroy Hurta, 84, of Angleton passed away December 22, 2024.  He was born August 13, 1940, in El Campo, TX to the late Joe Hurta and Dora Mae Hart Hurta.

Leroy served his country in the US Army from July 10, 1958 until June 30, 1964.  He retired from Dow Chemical Company after 30+ years in Mag Services.  He was a devout Catholic and 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was a certified clown and loved entertaining children.  Leroy was a huge role model to not only his own children, but to many more that grew up on Shanks Street.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his second wife Charlene Hurta; sister Dora Jean Smith, brothers Billy Joe Hurta and Howard Lewis Hurta.

Survivors include sons Chris Hurta (Donna) and Mike Hurta (Genelle); stepson Roger Thomas (Stacy); stepdaughter Tina Thomas (Tammie); 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be at 10;00 AM Friday, January 17, 2025, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bay City with Fr. Stephen Vacek officiating.  Interment will follow at Deutschburg Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Tommy Smith, Glenn Hurta, Vernon Hurta, Nathan Marek, Evan Lynam, Reece Thomas, Jonathan Landry and Jason Hurta.
