Obituary

Frank John Havel, 83 of Blessing passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at home in Blessing, TX. He was born June 30, 1934 to Thomas J. Havel and Antonio Klesel in El Maton, TX. He married June Christie on February 6, 1954. Mr. Havel was a life long resident of Blessing, a member of St. Peters Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Sons of the American Legion, a member of Alcoa 25 year club, a member of the Boat Club in Point Comfort, an Eagle Scout, State Champion Dairy Judge in 1951 and a Lab Technician for Alcoa for 32 years.

He is survived by his 2 daughters: Katherine Mathews & husband Thomas of Blessing and Sarah Hajovsky & husband Mark of Louise; 4 sons: Douglas Havel & wife Cathy of Cypress, Dennis Havel & wife Ginger of Corpus Christi, Kenneth Havel of Bulverde, and Roger Havel & wife Annette of Blessing; sisters Tereza Shimek of Palacios and Margaret Smaistrla of East Bernard; 46 grandchildren: Lee, Cindy, Eric, Stephen, Sterling, Cameron, Joshua, Rachel, Trevor, Carson, & Weston Havel, Christie & Gavin Myers, Michelle & Corby Horine, Matthew & Robbie Mauch, Kelsey & Jon Crouch, George Scheible, Brittany & Kipp Pridgeon, Danny & Heather Reddick, Amanda & Mat Carr, Tara Hohenberger, Amber & Brady Collins, Troy, Kristin & Derek Sless, Chad, Kelsey, Craig, Cory & Tana Hajovsky, Shelly & Thomas Delgado, Wendy, Beau, Heather, Bubba, Lina, Clint & Ashley Mathews; 33 great grandchildren: Lauren, Cassidy & Caleb Myers, Jadeyn & Beck Horine, Lucy, Maxwell & Opal Mauch, Jackson, Luke, Lily, Eli, June, & Wade Havel, Urijah Crouch, Tyler Edholm, Zachary Reddick, Mathew & Isla Carr, Ethan Neal, Brynn Hohenberger, Parker Sless, Heidi & Kennedy Hajovsky, Morgan Bartech, Payton Lee, Meredith Delgado, Byron, Emma, Arena, Brynlee, Hatley and Holden Mathews and sister-in-law Dorothy Havel. Mr. Havel was preceded in death by his parents, wife June of 52 years, brothers: Thomas Jr., Alois, James, & Henry Havel, and a son-in-law Darrell Sless.

We would like to thank his caregivers Becky Yackel, Shenna Mattes and Aquilla Bluntson for their love and support during this time. The loss of a loved one is always difficult, but the burden of this loss has been lessened by the care and compassion that these ladies have shown to our family.

Visitation will be held at Palacios Funeral Home on Saturday, March 24 at 1:00PM to 4:00PM and on Sunday, March 25 at 1:00PM to 4:00PM and on Tuesday, March 27 at 5:00PM – 8:00pm. Rosary will be recited at 7:00PM on Tuesday, March 26 at Palacios Funeral Home. A Mass will be held at 10:00AM Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at St. Peters Catholic Church of Blessing with Father Gabriel J. Mensah officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peters Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Troy Sless, Joshua, Sterling, Stephen, & Lee Havel and Matthew Mauch. Honorary Pallbearers will be Scott Jackson, Larry Karl, William Feldhousen, E. R. Vacek and Mr. Havel's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to St. Peters Catholic Church, P.O. Box 395, Blessing, TX 77419; Sons of the American Legion, P.O.
