Frances Parr Taylor, 95, of Bay City, Texas went to be with her loved ones in her heavenly home Monday, June 14th, 2010. Born in Fort Worth, Texas, January 6, 1915, to Clara Sprinkle Parr and Arthur Gilbert Parr, she moved to Bay City in 1935. She was the manager of Frels State Theatre when she married Frank Shaw Taylor on May 16, 1943, and continued on at the theatre until 1955. She then worked beside her husband at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, until his passing in 1973.
Frances was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she served faithfully for 70 years. She served on the Administrative Board; Chairman of the Bereavement Committee; Charter member of the Altar Guild; served as President of the Fellowship Class, and a past President & member of the Chancel Choir for over 50 years. She was an avid golfer and served as President of the Bay City Country Club Women's Golf Association; was a Charter and Life member of the Matagorda General Hospital Pink Ladies Auxiliary; a Patron of Festival of Arts Association; a member and officer of the Book Review Club; a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed participating in the Red Hat Ladies Society Club, and playing bridge and dominoes.
Frances is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Shaw Taylor; parents Clara and Arthur Parr; sister, Vashti Parr; stepsons, Don Jean Taylor and Vann Shaw Taylor; and daughter-in-law Ida LeTulle Taylor. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Bobbye S. Taylor; great nephew and niece, Seth Taylor and Sandra Steves, who were her loving care-givers; granddaughter Karen Taylor Vacek; great-great nieces and nephews, Jean Claire and John Muskiet; Scott and Michelle Steves; Mary Frances and Troy Hatchett; grandchildren, Diane T. Coffey, Richard Taylor, Charlotte T. Miller, Donna T. Sliva, Mariann "Wickie" T. Ashcraft; sister Clara Nettles; niece and nephews Kathy Moon, Austin Nettles, and Milton Nettles; great nieces & nephews Marthella Spoonemore, Lewis Steves, Savanna Franklin, and Diana Null; great grandchildren Marcus Monroe, Bryan Vacek, Julie Taylor, Melissa Hawkins, Lee Stewart, Shannon Yates, Jean Miller, Clark Miller, Julia Molle and Sam Sliva; great-great grandchildren Tyler, Clayton, Kolby and Lexi Vacek, Caity and Melody Yates, Hailey and Hanna Miller, Timothy and Joshua Stewart, and Harley Perez; great-great-great nieces and nephews Claire Carter, Jordan Kubeczka, Meredith Steves, Morgan Steves, Anna Hatchett, Hayden Steves , Madeline Steves, Whitney Muskiet, Chance Muskiet; her beloved cousin Bobbie Hall and her children Robert Hall, Frances Vinson, and Michael Hall.
The Funeral Service were held 2:00 pm Thursday, June 17, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church of Bay City with Rev. Chris Harrison and Rev. Jeff Gantz officiating. Interment followed at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers were be Scott Steves, John Muskiet, Troy Hatchett, Bryan Vacek, Kerry Coffey, and Clark Miller. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Houston Hospice or the First United Methodist Church.
Many thanks go to the Legacy Assisted Living. Frances had several enjoyable years there among the staff and other residents.
