Fendley Benefield, 81 of Sweeny, passed away Friday, November 11, 2005 in Sallisaw, OK. He was born December 30, 1923 in Purdon, TX to Robert Lee Benefield and Ollie Lema Gillispie Benefield. He was a resident of Sweeny since 1947, a member of the First Baptist Church of Old Ocean and was retired from Phillips Petroleum.
He is survived by his wife: Evelyn Ruth Benefield of Sweeny; by his step-mother: Sue Benefield of Reklaw, TX; by his sons: Fendley Benefield, II of Austin and Robert Leamon Benefield and wife Kimberly of Brazoria; by his sister: Bobbie Sue Miller of Reklaw, TX; by his aunts: Pauline McDonald of Trinity and Irene Copeland of Lubbock; by his grandchildren: Jennifer Benefield, Shanaka Beaty, Lance Benefield, Kynsie Benefield and Melinda Finch; his great-grandchildren: Morgan Taylor Beaty and Kaiden Paul Beaty; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert L. and Ollie Benefield; his son: Clifford Earl Benefield; and his brother: Fred B. Benefield.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at the First Baptist Church of Old Ocean with Bro. Alan Gentiles officiating. Interment will follow at Sweeny Cemetery in Sweeny, TX. Pallbearers will be Henry Hanson, Bob Oglesby, Johnny Lewis, Troy Duhon, Gary Eubanks and Jerry Don Bailey. Honorary pallbearers will be members of his Sunday School class.
