Obituary

Eysabel “Chop” Reyna, 81, of Bay City passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026 in Angleton, Texas. He was born September 25, 1944 in Bay City, Texas to the late Pedro Reyna, Sr. and Tomasa Rodriguez Reyna.

Eysabel graduated from Bay City High School and then married Alice Escamilla Vega in 1965 and together they had three children. Eysabel began working at the Phillips 66 refinery in Old Ocean in 1969. He started his career working in the lab, then became an operator and eventually a stillman. He later retired from the refinery in 2006. In his earlier years, he enjoyed playing baseball, boating, bay fishing and after retirement, golfing. He was a family man and never missed a celebration or party for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was fiercely independent and remained so his entire life.

Survivors include daughter Nora Dearing (Robert); sons Charles Anthony Reyna and Robert Aaron Reyna; brothers Vicente Reyna and Pedro Reyna, Jr.; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Thursday, May 21, 2026 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM with Reverend Gabriel Espinosa officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City, Texas. Pallbearers will be his grandsons Charles Reyna, Aaron Reyna, Chad Richard, Cody Richard and Christian Richard and son-in-law, Robert Dearing.
