Obituary

Evelyn Maurine Sutton Mielsch passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 after a brief illness. Evelyn was born to Lewis L. and Thelma C. Sutton on December 10, 1932 in Henderson, Texas. Mr. Sutton, Evelyn's father, was an oilfield worker and the family moved where the work was in Texas and Oklahoma, finally settling in Bay City in 1945. She graduated from Bay City High School in June of 1950. She married the love of her life, John Paul "Bubsy" Mielsch on August 1, 1950.
Evelyn was a business woman, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with her own bookkeeping and tax service, Evelyn and Associates, in Bay City for a number of years. She was a long time member of Bay City First Christian Church where she held several offices, including Financial Secretary. Evelyn loved her church - especially partaking of the Lord's Supper. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she held the offices of Worthy Matron, Deputy Grand Worthy Matron and Treasurer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Paul, her son Paul Lewis Mielsch and daughter Cathey Lynne Willson. She is survived by her grandson, Dain Jackson Sawyer, and several aunts and cousins in Texas, Oklahoma and Washington. She is also survived by her long-time buddies and "gang members" Mary Lou Birkner of El Campo, TX, Mary Kiesling of Kenedy, TX and Janice Critendon of Olivia, TX as well as close friend and "partner in crime" Judy Pennington and Kerry Ledwid of Bay City, TX.
Evelyn would be very upset if we failed to acknowledge the warm and loving treatment given her by the wonderful folks at Matagorda Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bay City and the tender, final care she received from the Houston Hospice.
There will be a memorial service at 11:00 AM Monday, July 28, 2014 at Bay City First Christian Church, 3920 Doris St., Bay City, TX with Rev. Tom Quirk officiating.
Memorials may be made to Bay City First Christian Church or the Order of the Eastern Star.
