Evelyn "Ebbie" Johnston Cook Layne, 89, of Blairsville, Georgia passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012. She was born February 25, 1923 in Bay City to the late Earl & Johnnie Benge Johnston.

Survivors include her daughters Sue Daniel (Sumner), Laura Grantham and Kathy Macinnes (Neil); sister Frances Miller; brother Gene Johnston; five grandchildren, Mark and Blake Daniel, Emily Jobson, Matt and Jeff Grantham; eight great grandchildren, Zoe and Hannah Daniel, Joshua and Jacob Daniel, J. W. and Charley Jobson and Jonathan and Emily Grantham. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Johnston and Johnnie Johnston; husbands Roy Cook and Landon Layne; brother Jack Johnston; sisters Kathryn Hayes and Mary Ann Melton and son-in-law John Grantham.

The family will receive visitors from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM Friday, March 9, 2012 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 2:30 PM Friday, March 9, 2012 at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.
