Evelyn Holland, 87, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away on December 17, 2013. Evelyn was born on March 25, 1926 to Harold A. and Ella H. Olson Hansen of Davevang, TX and she was their only child.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Faith and her husband of 56 years, Robert E. Holland, who died in 2011. Survivors include her son Glenn Holland; grandson Sherman Redd; granddaughter Melissa Willy and 4 great grandchildren Nicholas Willy, Samira Redd, Aryannh Redd and Aaden Redd.

She was a good wife, mother and friend to many. She was also a friend to animals and supported many causes. Both she and her husband did nice things for others, but never advertised it. She was a voracious reader and had a small book club. In her earlier years she was an accomplished seamstress, pianist and organist as well as an avid orchid grower and an excellent cook. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bay City for many years until she was unable to go. The world was a better place with her in it and those who knew her best will miss her the most.

Her family would like to thank a few people for being so kind and supportive to her. Klara Rowland for her encouragement and cookie baking, Boogie and Emily Svoboda for their friendship to us and their devotion to both Evelyn and Robert and to Joy Wernley who was like a second daughter to my mother and has been a great help in ways too numerous to mention.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 5pm until 7pm Friday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, December 21, 2013 at the Danevang Lutheran Church with Dr. Mike Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow at Danevang Cemetery.
