Evelyn Marie Hennig, age 76, of Alvin, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025. Born on October 18, 1948, Evelyn lived a life marked by independence, strength, and the love of her family.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Marie and Theodore Hennig. She is survived by her beloved sisters, Kay Stansberry, Judy Taylor and husband Calvin Taylor; and brother Charles Hennig and wife Ginger Hennig. Evelyn also leaves behind a loving extended family including many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews, all of whom she held dear to her heart.
Evelyn's career spanned 26.5 years with Shell, where she worked in various accounting departments. After retiring, she moved back to Bay City, Texas to care for her mother Marie in her final years. At that time, she joined the VFW Auxiliary. Evelyn became deeply involved in the organization, serving as Auxiliary President for one year, earning the District President of the Year award, and later becoming a life member. In a career shift, she moved to upper-state New York for a year, where she worked as a Land Agent (Landman) in New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio. Evelyn later returned to Alvin, Texas, to be near her family.
Outside of work, Evelyn had a variety of interests and passions. She loved carousels, enjoyed sipping on Diet Dr. Pepper, and spent many happy hours playing Bingo and scratching off lottery tickets. A trip to the casino was always an occasion she looked forward to. Above all, Evelyn found her greatest joy in spending time with her family, and they will forever cherish the memories of her loving spirit and warm presence.
Funeral services for Evelyn will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, located at 2313 Avenue I, Bay City, TX 77404. Visitation will take place from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 10:00 AM. A brief graveside service will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck, TX.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Hennig, Jody Stansberry, John Beaird, Jimmy Smith, Jason Molder and BJ Hindman. Honorary Pall Bearer: David Hennig.
The family would like to extend our deepest thanks and gratitude to Joyce and David (Owners) and all the caretakers at Chester House at Sadie Farms in Alvin as well as Essential Hospice for the loving care they gave to Evelyn. She was grateful for them all.
Evelyn's legacy of independence, love, and dedication to her family will live on in all those who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
