Evelyn Muriel Baker, 87, of Bay City passed away Friday, March 19, 2010, at the Matagorda Regional Medical Center in Bay City. Evelyn was born in Lubbock on Dec. 20, 1922, to parents George and Nancy Jane Hughes Richey. She was a retired teacher and a faithful long time member of the Nichols Street Church of Christ in Bay City.
Her parents and her first husband, Vernon Burrell, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Samuel Baker of Bay City; daughter, Nancy Burrell of Bay City; stepsons, Terry Baker of Bay City and Sam Baker of Oregon; and Samuel's adopted children, Belinda LeTulle of Franklin and Corey Baker of California; as well as a brother, Vance Richey. The Baker grandchildren, Deena, Jeremy, Terry Lane, and Tabitha, also survive her.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 22, at 10 a.m. at the Nichols Street Church of Christ in Bay City with the Rev. Larry Macomber officiating. Interment followed at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.
Arrangements were under the direction of Bay City Funeral Home.
