Eunice Thormaehlen - Critendon, 93, of Bay City, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2007. She was born June 30, 1914 in Karnes County, TX to Pitkin Barnes Taylor and Mary Jones Taylor. She was raised in Kingsville, TX and graduated from Kingsville High School. Eunice was a resident of Bay City since 1941, a member of First Baptist Church of Bay City, and retired as a switchboard operator from Matagorda General Hospital.
She is survived by her daughters: Billie Jean Coker of Tyler and Linda Kay Burtram of Katy; by her son: E. J. Thormaehlen, Jr. and wife Jerallyn of Boerne; and by 17 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands: E. J. "Ed" Thormaehlen, Sr. and E. A. "Bill" Critendon; by her parents Pitkin B. and Mary Taylor; and by seven brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 24, 2007 at the First Baptist Church of Bay City with Dr. Michael Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: E. J. "Trey" Thormaehlen, III, Lawrence Thormaehlen, Scott Thormaehlen, Erik Thormaehlen, Dale Burtram, Jr. and Wayne Bruening. Honorary pallbearers will be her great and great-great grandsons.
