Eugene Hershall Sherry, 85, of Bay City passed away June 1, 2016. He was born November 9, 1930 in Bay City, TX to the late Roy Hershall Sherry and Mabel Mangum Sherry.

Eugene was a 1950 Bay City High School graduate; served in the United States Marine Corps 1951-1952; and retired from Phillips Petroleum Company as a transport driver.

He married Bobbie Elizabeth Byrd on March 29, 1952 and celebrated 64 years together. Eugene and Bobbie loved to travel. They toured most of the United States and several other countries, including Hong Kong, China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Mexico.

Eugene was a very hard working person. He spent many years mowing the church yard and various others as needed. He was always willing to help others where he could.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tonya Annette Smith. Survivors include his wife Bobbie Byrd Sherry; daughter Lynette Taylor; sister Shirley Jones; brother Rev. Lee Sherry & wife Becky; grandchildren Gordon Smith, Samuel Taylor, Henry Taylor and Natasha Sullivan & husband Shane and great grandchildren Kory, Kamryn, Kaylor, Kylan and Keeley Sullivan.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 5PM until 7PM Monday June 6 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at the First Pentecostal Church with Dr. Marvin Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Gordon Smith, Samuel Taylor, Henry Taylor, Shane Sullivan, Mike Smith and Bennie Garza.
