Esther H. Villarreal, 65, of Bay City passed away March 29, 2025.  She was born December 8, 1959 in Port Lavaca, Texas to the late Santos Hernandez and Maria Estrello Hernandez.

Esther's pride and joy was her family. She was a proud mom and Nana. She was married to the love of her life, Roland for 47 years. She was a loyal friend and "neighbor" and would help anyone with anything if needed. She loved to spend her days crafting, planting, or staying connected to friends and family on the phone. In retirement she also enjoyed her time at the dome in the senior aerobics' class, meeting new and old friends. In her working days she was committed to helping students at BCHS learn English. Planning a good family vacation was also a top priority to her. She was one of the most selfless people you could ever meet and thought of everybody and everything all the time but would also speak her mind. She was also a little "chiquita pero picosa." She is loved and will greatly be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Socorro Garcia and two brothers, Frank Hernandez and Raymond Hernandez.

Survivors include her husband, Roland Villarreal; daughter Stephanie Marie Calderon (Joe); son Roland Anthony Villarreal; sisters Ninfa Covarrubias of Port O'Connor, Josefine (Josie) Reese of Missouri City, and Mary Connie Hernandez of Port Lavaca; brothers Agapito Hernandez of Lee's Summit, MO, Joe Hernandez of Richwood and Valdemar Hernandez of Houston and granddaughter Mia Marie Calderon.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.  Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM.  Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.  Pallbearers will be Roland Anthony Villarreal, Rick Zarate, Roland Zarate, Valdemar Hernandez Jr., Joe Calderon, and Nora Barrera.
