Ernest "Ernie" Lechuga, 57, of Bay City went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 2, 2014. He was born December 29, 1956 in Yorktown, TX to Casildo and Beatrice Rios Lechuga. Ernie was a volunteer fireman with the Bay City Volunteer Fire Department. He liked to Kayak, loved the Lord, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bay City. Ernie was very kind hearted, a good husband, and loved going to the Nascar Races.

He is survived by his wife of 13 years: Mona Lechuga of Bay City; step-son: Andrew Medina & wife Laurie of Rosenberg; children: James and Angie Solis; 2 sisters: Diane Lechuga of Corpus Christi and Norma Castereno & husband Oliver of Victoria; brother: Casey Lechuga & wife Erica of San Antonio; parents: Casildo and Beatrice Lechuga of Victoria; nephew: David Castereno of Victoria; and step granddaughter: Emma Medina.

The family will recieve visitors from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be 10:00 AM Friday, May 9, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Bay City with Dr. Mike Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.  Pallbearers will be: Scott Wagner, Garlan Hinman, Randy Frontz, James Svetlik, Bart Szeinbach, and Salvador Vega.
