Obituary

Emma Williams Petrosky, age 81, of Bay City, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2007, at the Legacy Matagorda House in Bay City, Texas.

Emma was born on March 1, 1925, in Inglewood, CA, and was the only child of Myron Earl and Rose Cooke Williams. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 43 years, Bruno Richard "Pete" Petrosky, and infant daughter, Debra Faye Petrosky.

Emma was raised and attended school near El Campo in the Plainview Community. She graduated from
El Campo High School at the age of 16 in May, 1941. Emma furthered her education and graduated from Southwestern Business University in Houston in December, 1942.

For sixteen years Emma and Pete traveled and lived in 33 areas across the United States while Pete was serving in the United States Air Force. Upon his retirement, they settled in Bay City in December, 1961. Emma was dedicated to her family and remained a homemaker while raising her children. She later worked as a bookkeeper for Stanley Stores and retired from the Texas Department of Human Resources in 1985.
After her retirement, Emma enjoyed attending Bay City Book Review, TUTS theater performances, and traveling with friends. She was the navigator and driver for many road trips with the "Golden Girls."

For over 46 years, Emma was a faithful member of the Bay City First United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School class. She loved evangelism and never met a stranger. During her many years as a member of United Methodist Women, she served in every leadership position. Emma's faith in God sustained her throughout her life and inspired those who knew her.

The highlight of her life was spending time with her four grandchildren. She was so very proud of each of them, and she loved caring for them all. Emma's most recent accomplishment in August, 2006, was attending her 65th El Campo High School "Class of '41" reunion and sharing with fellowship, reminiscing, and memories.

She is survived by her daughter, Beverly and her husband, F.E. Pryor, Jr. of Bay City; her son, Randy and his wife Lisa Petrosky of San Antonio; grandchildren: Lacie Pryor Orsak and her husband Travis of Bulverde; Lane Petrosky of Austin; Claire Petrosky of San Antonio; her "favorite" grandson, Lance Stockton Pryor of Austin; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2007, at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home, 2313 Ave. I, Bay City, TX.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 29, 2007, at the First United Methodist Church, 2300 Ave. H, Bay City, Texas at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Chris Harrison officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers include Donald Petrosky, Alton Petrosky, Mike Finster, Mark Drake, Ron Owens, and Mike Wade.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to all employees, caregivers, and nursing staff associated with Emma's loving care and companionship at the Legacy Assisted Living facility, Angels Care Home Health, the Legacy Matagorda House Healthcare Center, and Hospice Support Care of Houston Hospice – El Campo branch.
