Emilio Borjas Luera Sr., 84, of Bay City passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at home surrounded by family. He was born on February 5, 1937 in Cuero to the late Macedonio & Lazara Luera. Emilio was loved by many; he was a dedicated husband, father, & grandfather who would do anything for his family. With just one call he would be there and he will be greatly missed. Emilio worked 30 years for Ferguson Radiator, then he went to work 10 years for Matagorda County Courthouse where he retired. He enjoyed spending his free time with his wife of 66 years & his family. He loved to sit outdoors or take his little trips out of town with his daughter and son in law.
Emilio is preceded in death by his parents; son: Santiago Luera Sr; 3 brothers: David, Raymond & Santiago Luera; and 2 sisters: Nancy Guerra & Elvita Luera. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years: Delia Luera; Daughter: Belma Davalos (Tim) 2 sons: Emilio Jr. & Ricardo Sr; 5 grandsons: Timoteo Davalos III (Dora), Emilio Luera III, Santiago Luera Jr., Paul Luera, & Ricardo Luera Jr; 4 granddaughters: Sharon Garza (Stevie), Stephanie Guzman (Martin), Priscilla Garcia (Bardomiano), & Nicole Luera; 19 great grandkids; and 2 great great grandkids
The family will receive friends & relatives at 1:00 pm Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Northside Chapel Church. Services will begin at 2:00 PM with Pastor Tommie Griffin officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Santiago Luera Jr., Emilio Luera III, Paul Luera, Ricardo Luera Jr., Bryan Garza, Jaiden Luera, Kameryn Luera, & Martin Guzman.
