Elvira Elizalde, 96, our most blessed and beloved mother, grandmother, and sister returned to her God on Tuesday, August 12, 2008. She was born February 10, 1912 in Tivola, TX to the late Rosaura Vela Casas and Ismael Casas. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and was a resident of Bay City for the past 38 years.

She is survived by one sister, Minnie Sandoval of Victoria, TX; five daughters Soila & husband Salvador Morales, Lydia & husband Frank Cantu, Eddy Perez & husband John Mahaffey, Gloria De La Rosa all of Bay City and Virginia Galindo of San Angelo, TX; four sons Ernest Elizalde of Bay City, Henry & wife Martha Elizalde, Lupe Elizalde, Jr. & wife Katy of Coolidge, AZ, Ray Elizalde & wife Paula of Kyle, TX; 30 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren & 16 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Guadalupe Elizalde, Sr., brother Jose Garcia, and sisters Elodia Trevino & Esther Garcia.

A rosary will be recited at 7:30 pm Friday, August 15, 2008 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Mass will be 2:00 PM Saturday, August 16, 2008 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Rev. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Grandsons Martin Morales, Hector De La Rosa, Lupe Elizalde III, Armando Cantu, Henry Elizalde, Jr. & Keith Morales will serve as pallbearers. All other grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers.
