Obituary

Elsie Louise Black, 76, of Markham, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2008, at her home.
She was born March 3, 1932, in Rockdale, Texas, to Loy R.Q. and Ivy Lee Rhodes Taylor. She married James L. Black July 11, 1946. She was a resident of Markham since 1950 and retired from JC Penney.
She was a member of Markham United Methodist Church, where she volunteered her services at their Thrift Shop. She also was a member of AARP in Bay City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Black, her son, Robert L. (Bob) Black, a sister, Margaret Johnson, and a brother, Dayton Taylor.
She is survived by three sons: Kenneth and Jerilyn Black of Bay City, Mike Black and Allison Merz of Kemah, Tom and Karen Black of Markham, and a daughter-in-law, Linda Black of Round Rock; grandchildren Jo Ann and Troy Burditt of Rosenberg, Ken and Meredith Black of Richmond, Randy and Mandy Black of Bishop, Ellen and Sean Briscombe of Austin, Jennifer and Sonny Armond of Round Rock, Glenda and Joe Vance of Liberty Hill, Brandi and Dustin Goss of Austin, Chase Black of Rockport, Leslie and Jeff Trusty of Cuero, Rae Ann and Adam Nguyen of Rockport, Byron and Beth Black of Pearland, Jim Black of Stafford, and Kim Black of Tomball; and 16 grandchildren.
She is also survived by brothers R.C. Taylor of Linden and Jimmy Taylor of Spokane, WA; sisters Vernie Lee and A.W. Younts of Bay City, Hope Auld and Pee Wee Hoffman of Boling; and sister-in-law Becky Taylor of Ganado.
The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Joe Cannon, Dr. Roman Lopez, Dr. Chen, and Houston Hospice of El Campo for their services and care to Mrs. Black and her family.
The family will receive guests at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, July 15. A funeral service will be at 11:00am on Wednesday, July 16, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Morgan officiating. Interment will be at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing Texas.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Ken, Randy, Byron, Chase, and Jim Black, and Troy Burditt. Honorary pallbearers will be Drew McGinnes, Bill Hurta, John Litzau, and Ken Ramsey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Markham United Methodist Church, PO Box 238, Markham TX 77456.
