Obituary

Elmer Billington went to be with his Lord on April 15, 2011. Elmer was born on December 10, 1916 in Velasco, TX to the late Leroy Philip and Martha Jane Boring Billington. He proudly served his country during WW-II in the US Navy. He was a Merchant Marine Engineer on the Sea Train Line, retiring in 1971. His occupation led him to travels around the world. He was a dedicated family man, loving his wife of 69 years, his children, grand children and great-grand children. He resided in Cedar Lane for 64 years and was a member of the Cedar Lane Baptist Church Family.

He is survived by his daughters: Christine Burwell, Martha Kolojaco & husband Robert, Linda Kennedy & husband Matt, Kay Atherton & husband Lloyd, and Carol LeMaster & husband Joe; by his son: Thomas Billington & wife Kelly; by 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife: Mary Lou Billington; a son: John Edmond Billington; and by 10 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were held 1:00 PM Monday, April 18, 2011, at the Cedar Lane Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Roach and Rev. Maurice Morrow officiating. Burial was held 1:00 PM wednesday April 20, 2011 at the Phair Cemetery in Brazoria County. Pallbearers were his grandsons: Gerald Burwell, Jr., Kevin Kolojaco, David Penny, Brad Atherton, William Atherton, Brett Atherton, Brian LeMaster, Chris LeMaster, and Christopher James Billington.
