Ellis Perez Medina, 85, of Bay City passed away March 18, 2019. He was born March 30, 1933 in Markham, TX to the late Gabriel B. Medina and Josephine Perez Medina.

After graduating from Tidehaven High School, he joined the US Army and served his country for 2 ½ years. He then attended Wharton County Junior College and went on to Sam Houston State University graduating in 1958 with a BA in Science and majoring in history. He taught at the Devereux Foundation School in Victoria for 10 years and retired from Victoria ISD after 20 years with them.

Ellis loved to travel and was a collector through and through. He collected all kinds of items, but was particularly fond of Antiques that he would buy and resell. He was a "great giver" and would help any and every one in need.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Minnie Zepeda and Julia Partida and brothers Eddie Medina, Gabriel P. Medina and "Tiny" P. Medina.

Survivors include his twin sister Sabina Melindez of Houston, sister Mary Crawford of Bay City; brothers Pete Medina of California, Ben Medina of Bay City and Jack Medina of Clute and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 5PM until 7PM Friday, March 22, 2019 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 4:00 PM Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Serving as pallbearers will be Alex Najera, Denta DeLosSantos, Ernest Medina, Robert Reyna, Robert Melindez and Jameson Tomlin. David Alexander Najera will serve as honorary pallbearer.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorials in his name to MD Anderson Cancer Center.
