Ellen Marie Hauff Gasaway, 95, of Sweeny, TX was surrounded by the love and comfort of her family when she joined her loved ones in heaven on May 23, 2026. She was born on September 12, 1930, in Olivia, TX to the late Phillip Hauff and Maudie Hadley Hauff.

Ellen was the heart of her family, a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother whose life was centered on caring for those she loved. She was known for her kind heart, gentle spirit, compassion for people and animals, and her selfless nature as a caregiver. She touched the lives of many with her sweetness, warmth, kindness and unconditional love.

In addition to her parents, Ellen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Manuel Davis Gasaway; son Michael Davis Gasaway; daughters Linda Carol Brown and Katheryn Elaine Konrad; siblings Stella Phillips, Kenneth Hauff Sr., Clyde Hauff Sr., and Dorothy Boleyn. She is survived by her son, Rickey Dwayne Gasaway and wife Griselda Gasaway; brother-in-law Jerry Boleyn and sister Joyce Schneider; son-in-law Thurmond Brown; grandchildren, Tonia Cormier, Chris Brown and wife Shannon, Cory Brown and wife Diana, Jason Konrad and wife Jill, Julie Sheridan and husband Jason, Erica Espinoza and husband Mike, Victoria Uresti and husband Arik, and Annabelle Marie Gasaway Cisneros and husband William; along with many great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends who will forever cherish her memory and the love she so freely shared.

While our hearts are broken, we are grateful for the many years, memories, lessons, and love we were blessed to share with her. Her legacy lives on in the love we share with one another, the compassion we show to those around us, and the kindness we extend to animals, just as she did throughout her life. Her gentle soul and compassionate heart will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her. We find comfort in knowing she is reunited with those she loved and missed so dearly.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Stormy Zieschang, Crown Hospice, and Cornerstone for the compassionate care, support, and kindness provided to Marie and our family during the last two years. Your dedication and comfort meant more than words can express.

Visitation and funeral services will both be held on June 1, 2026, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City, Texas. Visitation will begin at 9 am and funeral services at 10 am with interment to follow at Matagorda Cemetery.
