Evelyn Elizabeth Young, 93, of Bay City passed away October 16, 2013. She was born October 31, 1919 in Hungerford, TX to the late William Bond Harris and Dora Lynn George Harris. She was a retired Librarian, a job she truly adored. She was very active in our community as a member of several civic organizations such as The Pilots Club where she also served as Governor of Pilots International. She was active with The Birding & Nature Center, LVA, & The Public Library. Elizabeth was also a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and The Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a very active member of The First Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Wesley Young, Jr., son Jack Wesley Young III and brother Ray Harris. Survivors include son Clark Young & wife Cynthia of Bay City; sister Bonnie Lynn Harris Busch; grandchildren Marcy Craft & husband Frank, Jack Wesley Young IV & wife Kay, Barton Pierce Young & wife Lucy, Richard Young, Rachel Lemaire and Robert Whitley and great grandchildren Chad S. Craft & wife Sayrah, Courtney Elizabeth Craft, Kenzie Layne Young, Chloe Dawn Young, Breeana Pierce Young, Haley, Lane & Ty Lemaire and great-great granddaughter Mary Margaret Ann Craft.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 5pm to 7pm Friday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, October 19, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Mark Stoub officiating. Pallbearers will be Doug Huebner, Richard Knapik, Frank Craft, Chad Craft, Wes Young and Bart Young.
