Obituary

Edwin Milton Cerny, 75, passed away August 27, 2015 after a determined battle with cancer. Edwin was born on March 22, 1940, to the late Adolph and Della Mary Zernicek Cerny. Together, Edwin and his wife Jeroline raised five children and took pride in their accomplishments. An avid mechanic, he owned his own auto shop and later farmed for many years. He also worked for Rail Serve at Lyondell Chemicals until his retirement. His strong work ethic and perseverance were passed down to each of his descendants. He was a life-long member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bay City and he loved fishing, crabbing, hunting, and just spending time with his children and grand-children. He also enjoyed making the best barbeque in Texas for family gatherings, celebrating his family's Czech heritage, and watching Western movies.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 52 years, Jeroline "Jay" Cerny, his four daughters: Sherry Reynal and husband Stewart of Bay City, Kathy Pratt and husband Jeff of Victoria, Judy Falb and husband Dave of Montgomery, And Melanie Bradley and Israel DeLaRosa, Jr. of Bay City, and a son, Jeffrey Cerny and wife Molly of Kingwood. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jason and Shane Reynal, Samantha Bradley, Christopher and Jacob Falb, Katie Pratt, and Rylie Cerny and two sisters, Dorothy Venglar and Gloria Treybig, and niece Debbie Polacek as well as other numerous nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be on Saturday August 29 starting at 5:00 PM with a Rosary Service beginning at 6:00 PM at Taylor Bros. A funeral Mass will be held on Sunday August 30 at 2:00 PM at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bay City with Father Greg Korenek officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Stewart Reynal, Jeff Pratt, Dave Falb, Israel DeLaRosa, Jr, Jason Reynal, Shane Reynal, Leon Garza, and Alex Orta will serve as pallbearers.
