H. Edwin "Eddie" Blackwell was taken home to the Lord on June 26, 2024. He was born in Alcorn County, Mississippi October 30, 1942 to Frank Blackwell and Elva Lancaster Blackwell. He was the youngest of 3 siblings.
At the age of six, his family moved to Missouri where they lived as share crop farmers until Eddie and his brother Terrell moved to Palacios, Texas in the 1960's. Eddie worked as a farm hand and married Teresa Morton in 1965. He became employed by Parker Bros. Shell Company where he worked on a tow-boat and did mechanic work for local farmers on his days off. He enjoyed 47 years of tow-boating until his retirement.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Teresa and his brother and sister.
Survivors include sons David (Bella) and Darrell (Kim) Blackwell; honorary daughter Dee Dee Stork; grandchildren Eddy III, Rena, Ari, Sanissa, David, Jr. and Justice; 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Monday, July 1, 2024 at the Palacios Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM with Keith Blackwell officiating. Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jesse Alvarez, Steven Wilson, Chris Harvey, Scott Ledwig, Jay Ledwig and Bill Hansen. The crew members of the M/V Lil'D and George Capak will serve as honorary pallbearers.
