Edward Franklin Lee, 94, of Bay City passed from this life January 19, 2017 at his home. He was born April 16, 1922 in Wadsworth, Texas to the late William Daniel Lee, Sr. and Elizabeth Butter Lee.
After serving in the US Air Force during WWII he returned to Matagorda County and worked for Rugley Motor Company for 37 years. He was a member of Shiners and American Legion Post #0201 for 46 years. He loved fishing, hunting, his garden and working in his yard.
He was the father of six children from his first marriage. He then met the love of his life Mildred Kopecky Lee. They spent the next 57 years together.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, three brothers and one granddaughter. Survivors include his wife and best friend Mildred Lee; one brother Bryan Lee; his six children Charlotte Machan (Conrad), Edwina Stratta, Edward "Butch" Lee (Mary Lou), Virginia Hightower (Bill) and Rita Whitley all of Bryan, Texas and Vance Lee (Bunte) of El Maton; 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may gather at 1:00 PM Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home for a short visitation. Grave Side Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck with Rev. Chester Sassman officiating. Pallbearers will be William Lee, Kevin Hightower, David Heger, John La Four, Conrad Machan and Carl Ray Lee.
