Edith Ready Byrd, 82, of Bay City passed away June 25, 2009. She was born June 4, 1927 in Smithville, TX to the late Thomas Calvin & Ella Hoffman Ready. She was a longtime employee at Ben Franklin and Shipley Donuts in Bay City. Her church family are members of the 2nd Baptist Church in Angleton.

Her husband James Byrd, Jr. preceded her in death. Survivors include daughter Donna Edwards & husband Ralph of Brazoria; son James Byrd III & wife Marsha of Angleton; sister Lillian Spalek of Bay City; sister-in-law Shirley Ready of Victoria; grandchildren Charles Hennig, Buddy Snow, Jonathan Byrd, David Hennig, Michael Byrd, Jennifer Hennig, Chenell Norman & Lauren Edwards and 20 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be 6pm to 8pm Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 3:00 pm Monday, June 29, 2009 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Chapel with Pastor Chris Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.
