Obituary

Edward "Eddie" G. Jecmenek, 84, of Bay City passed away on Friday, December 14, 2012. He was born on March 12, 1928 in Ellinger, TX to the late Edward Charles & Eleonora Hruska Jecmenek. Eddie graduated from LaGrange High School where he was the class Valedictorian. He continued his education at Blinn Junior College. While at Blinn, he was a four-sport letterman, and received the "Little American" award for sports. Eddie then earned his Bachelors degree at Sam Houston State University. He completed his education by earning his Masters degree at Stephen F. Austin State University. Eddie began his teaching and coaching career at Van Vleck High School. He then came to Bay City High School and taught science and continued coaching. Eddie became an Asst. Principal & Principal serving Bay City High School, Hilliard Junior High, and McAllister Junior High Campuses. In 1969, Eddie became the Assistant Superintendent of Business Affairs for BCISD, a position he held for 22 years. He retired in 1990 with 39 years of dedicated service to education. Eddie was a teacher for the Men's Wesley Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church of Bay City. He also served as a coach for Bay City Girls Softball Association, was a Master Mason, and a member of the Gulf Coast Shrine Club.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years: Jessica Jecmenek of Bay City; 2 daughters: Jessica Elizabeth Stone & husband Philip of Bay City, and Eddie Kaye Jecmenek of Sugar Land; son: Joseph McWilliams of Seattle, WA; 3 grandchildren: Amanda Elizabeth Slater & husband Charles of Brazoria, Klaudie Kaye Stone of Huntsville, and Cassidy Leigh McWilliams of Dallas; Eddie was preceded in death by his parents and brother Leon Jecmenek.

The family will receive visitors from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday, December 16, 2012 at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Monday, December 17, 2012 at First United Methodist Church of Bay City with Rev. Jeff Gantz and Rev. Pauline Storey officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City. Pallbearers will be: Taylor Steves, Jimmy Sansing, George Durett, Wayne Bender, Billy Mann, Craig Estlinbaum, and Dr. Bart Griffith. Honorary pallbearers will be: Charles Coney, Hootie Estlinbaum, Tom Burchfield, and Dean Reynolds.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children – Houston, 6977 Main St., Houston, TX 77030-3701.
