Eddie Stevenson Barton, 86, died peacefully at home on January 16, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband William D. Barton, Sr. and son William D. Barton, Jr. She is survived by her son Henry Stevenson Barton; daughters-in-law Sherry Barton and Lurinda Barton; grandchildren Lori Barton, Kim Barton Schneider, Logan Barton and Tamika Smith. She is also survived by brothers Robert Edward Stevenson and Henry Erle Stevenson of Rayville, LA.

Eddie was born in Rayville, LA on March 9, 1920 to Henry Harrison Stevenson and Willie Oldham Stevenson. She attended Monroe Business School after high school and was employed by Treadwell Construction Company in Winnsboro, LA. She later transferred to Shreveport, LA and married W. D. "Billy" Barton October 11, 1945. After years of being a homemaker and mother she used her bookkeeping skills working at Bay City Fertilizer, the family business. She dedicated her life to the business and her family.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Bay City and active in the Women's Morning Circle.

Services will be 10:00 AM Friday, January 19, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. John-Nelson Pope officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers include Mike Burnside, Roy Chesson, Joe Eddleman, Jimmy Roppolo, Loy Sneary and Greg Westmoreland. Tom Uher will serve as honorary pallbearer.
