Earl T. Ward, 81, of Bay City a proud World War II Navy Veteran, joined his Lord Thursday, November 15, 2007. He was born June 15, 1926 in Black River, Arkansas to the late Nora Van Horn and Ernest Tilman Ward. Earl T. has been a resident of Bay City since 1947.
Earl T's most treasured assets were his family, church and country. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bay City and the Adult 2 Sunday school class. Earl enjoyed a lifetime of successful business ventures, some of which are furniture and appliances, insurance, and real estate. He was founder and Chairman of the Board of American National Bank. He also enjoyed property development in Texas and Colorado.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife and partner in life for 62 years, Leta Ward of Bay City; beloved son and best friend, Erwin E. Ward & his wife Sharon, of Bay City; and adored, precious granddaughter, Leta Renee Ward of Tampa, Florida. Earl was preceded in death by his parents.
Earl T., a private, humble man with a unique sense of humor, a thirst for knowledge and a passion for life, was truly a man among men. He freely shared his knowledge by mentoring those around him. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
The Family will receive visitors from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 18, 2007 at the First Baptist Church of Bay City with Dr. Mike Zimmerman, Dr. W. D. Baker and Rev. Glen Walker officiating. Interment will follow at North Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City. Pallbearers will be Ira Anderson, Dr. Crayden Dennard, Frank Hurley III, Dr. Greg Keffer, Zeferino Mendoza, Robert Long, Chris Nygard, and Loy Sneary. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the First Baptist Church Adult 2 Sunday school class.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Bay City or to the American Cancer Society.
