Douglas Earl Needham

Doug Needham died on Tuesday, July 18, 2017.

A citizen of Bay City for 57 years, Doug was born in Robstown, Texas, on January 15, 1937. He spent his early adult life working in the oil fields of south Texas before marrying the love of his life, Melba Crain, in 1960. Doug and Melba made a home in Bay City, where Doug was employed at Independent Rice Drying Warehouse, Inc. He was active in coaching Little League Baseball and was an avid supporter of Black Cat football and "That Famous Black Cat Band" of the 1970s and 1980s. In later life, he affectionately became known as "Poogie."

Doug is preceded in death by daughter, Tessie Needham; and wife, Melba Needham. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Stephanie Needham; son, Keith Needham; grandchildren, Dustin and Siara Needham; and great-grandchildren, Layne and Blaze Harper.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M., on Saturday, August 5, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. All who would like to honor the memory of Douglas are invited to attend.
