Obituary

Douglas Lehman "Doug" McKinley, 76, of Selkirk passed away January 27, 2009. He was born Sept. 15, 1932 in Houston, Texas to the late Thomas Oscar & Amber Losene Harris McKinley.

Doug was a Sgt. in the US Army and worked as a Pressman for the Houston Post and later for the Houston Chronicle and Gulf Publishing. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors all his life. He spent many happy times at Sam Rayburn Lake fishing and camping and shared his love of nature with his children. In recent years, he became a collector of antique items of many unusual types.

He is survived by his daughter and her husband Melissa McKinley & Dennis Klekar of League City; son Tim McKinley of Houston; brothers Frank and Jesse McKinley and grandchildren Taylor Klekar & Grant McKinley.

A memorial service honoring his life will be 11:00 AM Monday, Feb. 2, 2009 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Rev. Zach Nicholson officiating. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
