Dorothy Jean Sliva, 87, of Palacios passed away April 5, 2017. She was born March 20, 1930 in Blessing, Texas to the late Arthur and Annie Sherrer.

Dorothy married her husband of 69 years, John "Johnny" Sliva, on January 13, 1948. The two spent many years farming rice together until their retirement. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Dorothy loved to cook for her family; however, her true passion was gardening where she would spend hours tending to her plants and flowers.

Dorothy is survived by her husband John Albert Sliva of Palacios; daughters and their spouses Betty (Fortune) Ross and Linda (Adolph) Biskup; grandchildren Chris (Greg) Sexton, Jennifer (Frank) Montague, Cathy (Kevin) Rickaway, Mark (Susan) Biskup, Jeff (Terrie) Biskup, and Steven (Vicki) Biskup; great grandchildren Gregory (Jessica) Sexton, Katelyn Sexton, Johnathan, Luke, Blaike and Hanna Montague, Jordan & Taylor Rickaway, Makayla & Tori Biskup, Sara & Brian Biskup, Adam & Chance Biskup and great-great grandchild Cason Biskup.

The family has planned a private service for close family and friends to celebrate Dorothy's life. Service and burial will be held at Hawley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Dorothy's name to Palacios Pet Pals.
