Dorothy Marie Kubecka Kirksey, 83, of Bay City, left this world on Monday evening, November 7, 2016. She was born on October 23, 1933 in La Grange, Texas. She was the first born child of John George Kubecka, Jr. and Sophie Psencik and was a life long resident of Austin, Texas. She was the oldest of six children. Her parents were farmers. When Dorothy was 18 years old, she decided farm life was not for her so she moved to Austin for a new life. There she worked and lived with the John G. Adams family as a housekeeper, and to help raise their 3 children. Dorothy worked and lived with that family for almost 40 years. Dorothy married Fritz Kirksey in 1971. After 5 short years, she lost him due to lung cancer. They did not have children. The last 18 years of her life, Dorothy worked for the Tom and Carol Hatfield family in Austin. They loved and treated her as great as all the others in her life.

Dorothy moved to Bay City on March 7th, 2015. She lived at the Tejas Cove Apartment complex and everyone loved her. After a brief hospital stay, she was diagnosed with cancer and she became a resident at Matagorda Nursing and Rehab Center. Dorothy loved living there and was treated very well.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Mrs. Agnes Ellisor (Charles). Surviving brothers and sisters are Dolores Kubecka of Bay City, Frank Kubecka of Alvin, Janie Kubecka Beals (William) of LaGrange, and John Kubecka (Marylyn) of Bay City.

The family will receive friends and relatives 9:30-10:30am Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow visitation at 11:00am at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.
