Dorothy Johnson 86, of Bay City died April 17, 2006 at Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City. She was born March 3, 1920 in Yoakum, TX to the late Oscar Lamar and Alma Dean Rader Allen. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Van Vleck and a resident of Bay City since 1950.
Survivors include: 2 daughters and a son-in-law: Betty Matthews of Bay City, and Dorothy & Clarence Sellers of Brazoria, TX; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law: Dennis Gryder of Andrews, TX and William E. "Bill" & Elizabeth Johnson of Van Vleck, TX; 13 grandchildren: Ivy Eidlebach & husband Ross, Lisa Cockrell & husband Matt, and Sheri Hooper & husband Kevin all of Van Vleck, Danny Johnson & wife Miranda of Bay City, Stephanie Ketchum of Dickinson, Michael Sellers of Seabrook, Roy Sellers of Brazoria, Darryl Gryder & wife Jena of Kermit, TX, Lloyd Gryder & wife Cathy of Mansfield, TX, Debra Gasglow & husband Tim of Lovington, NM, Yvonne Bartz & husband Phil of Minto, ND, W. D. Gryder serving in the Texas National Guard stationed in Iraq, and Deanna Gryder US Navy stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii; great grandchildren: John Ross and Amy Eidlebach, Katie Cockrell, Joseph, Ashley, & Andrea Hooper, William, Hannah, & Allison Johnson, Johnathan Ketchum, Samantha Nielsen, Sara & Teresa Sellers, Cody Sellers, Anthony Gryder, Latina Gryder, Dustin Gryder, Stefanie, Kady, Lauri, and Jenny Osbourne and 2 great grandchildren: Stormy Marie Gryder and Michael Gryder; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff in ICU at Matagorda General Hospital, especially Helen & Rene for being so kind and loving to our Mom. Also special thanks Charlotte and Jerry McKissick for helping to look out for Mom in the past years. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, April 20, 2006 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ross & John R. Eidlebach, Roy & Michael Sellers, Darryl and Lloyd Gryder, Danny Johnson, and Johnathan Ketchum. Honorary Pallbearers will be W. D. Gryder, Yvonne Bartz, Stephanie Ketchum, Ivy Eidlebach, Deanna Gryder, Sheri Hooper, Lisa Cockrell, and Debra Osbourne. The Family will receive friends Wednesday evening at Taylor Bros.
