Obituary
Dorothy Cole Dietrich was born to the late David William and Lillian Loftin Cole January 12, 1928 in Bay City, Texas. She passed away January 14, 2017 in Bay City, Texas.
She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Altar Society, Catholic Daughters and a lifetime member of the 100 Club. She was Matriarch of her family, the family she adored and loved more than life itself. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, dancing, and especially cooking. She was known for her famous crab rolls and dewberry cobbler. She loved entertaining and enjoyed being surrounded by people. She had fabulous Christmas parties and many other parties, including informal fish fries, barbecues and crawfish boils. Friends and family were always looking forward to getting invitations to these events. She and Hadden had many good times with friends and family at their summer camp at Chinquapin overlooking East Matagorda Bay. The grandchildren Zac and Shelby loved it and enjoyed going out in the pontoon boat fishing, swimming and ski bobbing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Elizabeth Burkhart Hite and Lillian Cole Milberger and brothers William, Jenoye, Jack, John, Waddie and David William Cole, Jr.
She is survived by the love of her life Hadden M. Dietrich, Sr., her husband for over 66 years; her beloved sons Hadden Dietrich, Jr. and wife Kathy of Katy and Cole Dietrich of Houston; grandchildren Zachary David Dietrich of McKinney, Texas and Shelby Dietrich Vinson and husband Richard of Midlothian, Texas; great grandchildren Katherine Cole Vinson and Leah Cheryl Vinson; sister Annie Lee Jones and brother Rosser Moody Cole of Bay City; nephews Roland, Gerald, Eugene, Randy, Lee, David, Raymond, Roy and Allen Cole, Wayne, Arthur and Bryan Milberger; nieces Barbara Sue Spacek, Pat Davis, Carolyn Earnest, Marsha De La Riva, Pam Svetlik, Mary Ellen Milberger, Dianne Rooth, Terri Striebeck and Judy Metcalf and many great nephews and nieces.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM Thursday January 19, 2017 followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM Friday, January 20, 2017 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Rev. Greg Korenek officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Zac Dietrich,
Rich Vinson, Roy Cole, John Dickerson, III, Trip Wyse, Bryan Milberger.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Cross School or to the charity of your choice.
