IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Louise
Collins
December 5, 1933 – December 25, 2024
Dorothy Louise Cooper Collins, 91, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024.
She was born December 5, 1933 to George and Ima Ivy Cooper at home on a little farm outside of Nixon, Gonzales County, Texas. Her family moved to Palacios in 1939. It was in Palacios that she met and married the love of her life, Claude G. Collins, Jr on January 4, 1951.
She leaves behind three daughters, Sandra & Scott Haag, Laura & Joseph Aoughsten and Patty & Ronny Shafer.
Seven granddaughters, Tanya & Isaac Almeida, Stephanie & Luke Bodie, Kathleen & Henry Bransom, III, Sarah & Matt Harper, Chelsie & Brent Myklebust, Michelle & TJ Bartlett and Taylor & Dave Sprecher.
She was also blessed with nine great grandchildren: Morgan Almeida, Brenna & Everly Bodie, Elijah & Jeremiah Bartlett, Reed & Hayes Bransom, Alice Harper and Maverick Myklebust.
She leaves behind one sister-in law who she loved as a sister, Frankie Faye Cooper.
Dorothy was a homemaker, and it was a job she took to heart. Making sure that her husband and children were well taken care of was very important to her. Coming from a long line of wonderful cooks she was the same and always made us feel like good food and a hug could fix almost anything. She was very talented with needlework, from crocheting, counted cross stitch, embroidery and dabbling in quilting with her sisters. She made beautiful treasures that will forever grace our homes and remind us that she is near. She loved to play games and was very competitive, especially cards which she won more than lost.
She left this journey surrounded by the love of her family to join those that have gone before her: her parents, loving husband and siblings Margie Johs (Frank),Felton Cooper (Jeanne), Kathleen Peerbolte, Paul Cooper and Shirley Rogers (Carl – PeeWee).
Dorothy is the last of the Cooper children to go home. Over the years she remained as close as possible to her siblings and together they shared a lot of laughter and some tears as they moved down the road of life. She will be dearly missed by those of us she left behind. We celebrate her life today in prayer that she is once again with her beloved Jr, her mama and daddy and her brothers and sisters for a glorious reunion.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM Thursday, January 2, 2025 at the Palacios Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM with Chris Webber officiating. Interment will follow at the Palacios Cemetery.
