Dorothy Beyer Cartwright, 81, was peacefully called home November 26, 2009 while surrounded by her family. She was born October 23, 1928 at her family home in Midfield, TX to the late Charles R. & Rosalie Ripper Beyer.
She was a lifelong resident of Matagorda County living most of her years in Bay City. She was a member of Nichols Rd. Church of Christ and volunteered at Harvest House for 17 plus years. She also volunteered at Bay Villa Health Care Center for a number of years by helping the ladies with their hair. Dorothy loved sewing, counted cross stitch, bowling, working in her yard, fishing and watching the Astros.
Her husbands Donald Baker and Mack Cartwright; brother Edgar Beyer; brother-in-law John Lejsal and granddaughter Diana Cartwright all preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter Brenda Carroll & husband David of Bay City; son Phil Cartwright and wife Susan of St. Louis, MO; sister Beatrice Lejsal of Pearland, TX and sister-in-law Janie Beyer of Midfield, TX. She has six granddaughters Kristi Organ & husband Scott of Bay City; Stephanie Carroll of Albuquerque, NM; Isa Cartwright of St. Louis, MO; Leslie Schmerber & husband James of Phoenix, AZ; Amanda Campos & husband Robert of Bay City and Shannon Henning & husband Ryan of Corpus Christi and six great grandchildren Austin Anzaldua, Emily & Seth Organ, Lindsey Schmerber, and Conner & Kloey Henning. Also surviving are her long-time friend Grace Keener and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 5PM to 8PM Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Monday, Nov. 30, 2009 at the Nichols Rd. Church of Christ with Bro. Larry Macomber and Bro.Glenn Organ officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers will be Doug Davis, Richard Beyer, John Westbrook, Ralph Rawlings, Don Schmersahl & Bob Noster. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Campos, Scott Organ, James Schmerber, Ryan Henning, John Lejsal, Jr., William Hunter, David O'Donnell, Edgar Beyer, Jr., Gary Beyer, James Beyer and David Beyer.
