Dorothy Marie Burkett, 85, of Palacios passed away December 7, 2015. She was born July 20, 1930 in Houston, TX to the late Jack Pierce and Callie Blevins Pierce. She had owned Burkett's Gallery in the Liberty, TX area and operated Dorothy's Bloomers in Palacios.

She was preceded in death by one son, Alfred M. Burkett, Jr. Survivors include her husband Alfred M. "Buck" Burkett, Sr.; children Cynthia Bates and Jeffrey Burkett; sister Betty Jean Hix; grandchildren Christopher Burkett, Ronald Linton, Jr., Melissa Bergholtz, Tyler Burkett, Chelsea Burkett and Gabriel Daniel; great grandchildren Christopher, Meghan, Katelyn, Lauren, Corbin, Madeleine, Abigail, Emma and Berlynn and by her caretaker Majorie Johnson.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 5PM until 7PM Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday, December 11, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Palacios with Rev. Chris Webb officiating. Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ron Linton, Corbin Linton, Tyler Burkett, Gabe Daniel, Charlie Michalik and Gary Taylor.
