Dorothy Ellen Baldwin, 85, of Kingwood, Texas went to be with the Lord on January 21, 2024. She was born June 5, 1938 in Refugio, Texas to Emil C. Jewell and Bernice Ozway Harrison.

As a child, Dorothy lived in several different places in Texas and Arizona. In her young teens her family returned to Palacios, Texas where she attended school and eventually met her high school sweetheart, James Baldwin. They were later wed in August 1957 and were married for 60 years. They had three children. Throughout the years Dorothy worked in secretarial positions at various companies in Houston and Port Lavaca, a day care center in Taylor, and became a fire watch at the plants in Baytown. She enjoyed gardening, reading, listening to gospel music and feeding/watching the birds and squirrels.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother B.J. Jewell. She is survived by her son, James Baldwin, Jr. and wife, Kimberly Baldwin; daughters, Darla Salazar and husband, Aurelio Salazar, and Susan Reese; brother, Patrick Jewell; sister, Grace Dabbs; grandsons, Matthew Salazar and James Andrew Salazar; granddaughters, Lan Salazar, Rosemarie Salazar and Samantha Murillo; great grandsons, Leon Murillo and Lincoln Juarez; many nieces and nephews, and several really great longtime family friends and classmates.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Palacios Funeral Home.
