Obituary

With deep love and gratitude, we honor the life of Donald Lee Ross, who passed peacefully at the age of 95. Born October 30, 1930, in Wetumka, OK, Don went to be with the Lord on June 17, 2026. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and servant of the Lord, he was the steady patriarch of our family — a provider, a protector, and a man whose faith shaped every step of his long and meaningful life.

For 75 remarkable years, he walked side‑by‑side with his beloved wife, Maxine Ross, as her partner in every adventure and her greatest supporter. Their marriage was a living testimony of commitment, grace, and unwavering devotion.

For more than 60 years, Don was a pillar of Cedar Lane Baptist Church, faithfully serving as the longest‑standing active deacon in the church’s history. He mentored generations of believers, supported missions with a grateful heart, and poured his time and wisdom into his church community. His faith was not only spoken — it was lived, generously and consistently.

A rancher at heart and an avid hunter, he loved the land, the outdoors, and the stories that came with a life well lived. And of course, everyone knew about his turnips — a small but beloved symbol of his generosity and connection to the community.

He was the proud father of 3 children, grandfather to 10, great‑grandfather to 20, and great‑great‑grandfather to 5. To all of us, he was simply Paw Paw — the storyteller, the encourager, the steady hand, and the heart of our family.

Don was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Elnora Maxine Ross; Parents, Edna Gertrude and Harvey Lee Ross; brother, Gale Gene Ross, and great grandson, Austin Tyler Ross.

Don’s life was defined by service, humility, and love. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, and quiet strength that will continue to guide us for generations.

A celebration of his life will be held at Cedar Lane Baptist Church on Friday, June 19 at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
