Donald Ray Ledwig died peacefully in his sleep on May 9, 2017 at the age of 59. He was born in Eagle Lake, Texas on September 15, 1957 to Ignatz Joe and Luella Bender Ledwig. The family moved to Bay City, Texas in 1963. After Donald finished school, he went to work for Otis Engineering. He then farmed and ran his own shrimp boat. Donald loved to hunt and fish with whomever would go with him. However, you might not know when you would return home! Or you might get stuck with the job of cleaning the boat or whatever other job Donald did not want to do. Donald loved to do outdoor cooking-from frying fish and shrimp to big barbeque cookouts. Donald acquired the nickname "Duck".
Donald is survived by a sister, Linda Sue Ledwig Richardson from Fredericksburg, TX and a brother, Ignatz "Joe" Ledwig, Jr. from Bay City, TX. He has two nieces, Bobbe Ledwig and Jill Tabor (Russell); three nephews, Zach Williamson (Natalie), Brice Ledwig and Stuart Richardson (Stacie); three great nieces, Hailey, Courtney and Avery; five great nephews, Drew, Dillan, Joshua, Jayce and Benjamin; and MANY aunts, uncles, cousins and friends….and especially his four legged girls and boy (Angel, Lulu, Lil Bit, Haley, Uno, Juliette, Rosie and Chief).
Donald loved peddling his vegetables and hot sauce, playing dominoes and dancing. He also loved pulling pranks and making you laugh…especially on our Christmas gifts. Donald will be missed by many!
