Donald Wayne Schmersahl II, 40, of Van Vleck passed away October 5, 2017. He was born January 11, 1977 in Bay City, TX and was a devoted and wonderful son to Donald Wayne and Kathryn Huffaker Schmersahl.

Don was a loving husband and devoted father. He loved all of his nieces, nephews, and friends.

Don is remembered as a true American and Texan, a man among men and a natural leader with a Get 'er Done attitude. He loved to hunt and was an avid gun collector. His favorite past time was coaching for Van Vleck Little League and watching his boys play ball. He loved cheering on his 'Stros (as he called them).

Don is survived by his parents; wife DeAndra Burt Schmersahl; sons Tyler and Taiden Schmersahl; sister Barbie Bundick; numerous nieces and nephews, and a family of loving friends.

Services will be 1:00pm Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing, with Jack Burt officiating. Interment will follow graveside services. Pallbearers are Frank Ivy, Trey Jones, Dee Wayne Smith, L.J. Burt, Shane Williams, Roy Chase, Rob Maynes and Ely King.
